Need or Whim?

South America Group.
Week 7: "Space Colonization: We have to search new worlds and create new colonies?"

Need or Whim?

We are currently sending missions to search new planets, other galaxies and to study planets conditions every year.

Every year governments spend millions in this missions that may succeed or not. It's important to know new forms of life, but what about our planet, the place where we are all living?

Those millions can be redirected in so many forms with a huge impact now, not in years, just now. Investigations that can be done with that amount of money are huge. But that's not a benefit for those destroying our planet. Those making problems and selling solutions.

A simple example, think about solar energy which is unexploited and it's a green form of energy. Or think about new materials replacing oil.  There are just so many examples where with a good investment good results can be obtained.

We need to take care of our planet as well as looking for new ones. If this is not done, one day we would have to move all to a new one. And if we are not learning anything, how is that new planet going to last forever. We simply throwaway things.

As well as money government concern should be also redirected to things happening in The Earth. A cure to diseases as Ebola can be found so easily if they concern as much as they do in those missions. Or if they care about homeless people in the world. And so many problems we all live with.

I’m not saying it's not necessary, but first we should focus in things happening here. Then we can explore mars without worries.
