Discrimination Ends where Acceptance Begins.

Week 6: “Discrimination: How to fight it?”

Discrimination Ends where Acceptance Begins.

Discrimination is rejecting one another, it's closing the doors in each other's faces, it's intolerance, it's the limits and lines we set between each other’s. And why? Because we're different, because we don’t agree on the same thing, because we didn't make the same choices, because we think differently and sometimes it's even because we don't have the same skin color or we don't love the same way ... Discrimination is only there to put the hate in our hearts and complicate our lives so how can we break this to let us all able to respect and love each other putting aside our disagreements and making our differences a source of enrichment?

People sometimes can reject you by ignorance just because that's what everyone else is doing. If you ask them why? They wouldn't have any convincing reason even though there wouldn't ever be such a reason for discrimination. So we can sensitize these people, let them know the suffering that other people have to go through just because they chose not to be pleased with such a category of people. For example a black person has to be treated as a slave and considered as inferior to white people only cause they chose to make things that way.

In addition to this, people who are victims of discrimination are called to fight for their rights, for their place in the community, show that they can give as much as others and that they still share a lot in common with the rest.

People also should stop setting rules that everyone else is supposed to obey to, they should stop being selfish thinking of a model of a righteous person that would only satisfy their beliefs and convictions.

You can be different and that only concerns you because after all we're all different. For example gay people are different from straight people and straight people are different from gay people, so different implies both of them and no one owes anything for the other one except respect.

Let us not complicate each other’s lives, let us cherish love and respect instead of hatred. Let us keep our minds and hearts open for the people who are different from us, listen to them share our views of things and make this a way to learn, to open our eyes at things we wouldn't have been able to see any other way and let us not forget that even if we are a part of the majority according to a certain character we're still different on other levels so let us accept to be accepted.
