Week 3: “Equilibriums: The importance of remembering about our past but looking to the future.”
Week 3: “Equilibriums: The importance of remembering about our past but looking to the future.”
Stop! Breathe and Try Again.
Like George Santayana once said,
“People who don’t know their past, are cursed to repeat it in the future.” When
we learn about our past experiences, it’s hard to fall again into the same
mistakes. People are imperfect, and everyone has their own secrets, but as
humans we have the capacity of making our own choices, so a mistake can be
turned into a decision, and changes are based on the decisions we make.
The history of each one of us is
full of bad, good, happy, sad, and many other types of moments. But we can
learn from every type of them. Unfortunately, some people just like to live of
their remembering and dig a big and deep hole where everything can be turned
bad, even with a big fright to move on. I was one of those people. It’s
terrible to wake up every single day and not feel anything. In my opinion,
being indifferent is worse that feeling sad. There are so many scars and hounds
in the heart, like if a cruel and cold sword was stabbed in the deepest of your
heart, but there’s no medicine or treatment that can cure them. People call you
stupid for feeling bad, and say that you are overreacting, but no one’s there
to give you a hand to help you to put together all the pieces that your soul
has been divided in. Well, you know? There is a solution. We have to learn how
to forgive, how to give the importance that the things deserve. It’s hard to
do, especially when it’s about feelings, but not impossible. Sometimes because
of our past problems and worries, we can’t see and appreciate what we have
today. The past is gone, the future is uncertain, but the present is now. We
can’t handle every detail that happens in our lives, but we can always stop,
breathe and think what to do to make things much better. Like we said, the past is gone, you have to
let it go, you can’t be carrying pieces of glass that just hurt you when they
have the chance, you just have to drop it and heal. When it heals, it’s just
like another scar, we cannot erase them, and they are part of us, but it’s the
reminder that it doesn’t matter how bad the marks that our past left on us
could be, they can always heal, and when we see them, we have to use them like
the motivation of doing things much better. The future is in our hands, so we
can shape it the way we want. Never be
afraid of closing cycles and starting new ones, because it can always be
better; let’s make it better.
The future can be much better if
we want it to be. Like Dr. Seuss said, “Unless
someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's
not.”
