The New Old Generation.

The New Old Generation.

Every time I meet a new person I can't resist on asking the question: "What do you like to do?". Usually, I hear things like, Star wars, Harry Potter, walking my dog, watching TV, hanging out with friends, working out, and sleeping. Sorry, but there is only one thing that comes to mind when I hear only like that, "Imbecil." It's a pity that I never see anyone saying things that defines them as a person. I mean things that make them explore their creativity, and generate intellectual and artistic beauty.

Why is it almost impossible to hear someone saying activities such as painting, writing, sculpting, or playing an instrument? And the worst part is that when I even hear someone saying any of these things, it's almost impossible to see someone that actually can create beauty in what they do.

A simple answer can be: Because it's hard. These activities evolve rigorous conscience and a lot of effort. None of these are easy tasks. These activities require depth of consciousness, lots of study and training, ability, creativity. Skills that are rare to see in people who had no external stimulus beyond the popular means of life.

To explain it in an even better way: We have no tradition. It's hard to find someone with strong tradition. Few people are born anymore with the teachings of their past generations; learning the ways of their family's art and work; learning their respective traditional cuisine; learning the philosophy, methods and routines of their ancestors.

These things are extremely important for any individual. The first step in defining a person is by their tradition. It's with one's parents sitting beside their son since childhood and teaching him the techniques of their art that makes a child an artist when he grows up. That's what makes the child be able to bring beauty and meaning to his life and the world.

The topic today is the "Internet generation". And before anyone starts thinking that I'm off track, let me try to explain: What the internet has to do with life? Nothing. It's just another bit of modern comfort. With the internet or without it, we are still the same imbecile race of people without traditions, without culture, without beauty, without meaning and without life, generation after generation.
